Honey Garlic Skillet Chicken
Here is a great weeknight meal that I will continue to have on my dinner rotation for many years. You probably even have all the ingredients to make this meal in your pantry . Make sure you have all your ingredients ready before you start to make the sauce. It will be much easier. The Montreal Steak Seasoning is optional but if I have it on hand I add it . The flavor added to the sauce is so good. Or you can use 21 Salute Seasoning from Trader Joe’s. Or leave the extra seasoning out altogether. It is still yummy with just salt and pepper.
I use a cast iron skillet to make this dinner. I love the way the chicken slightly crusts on the outside when you use cast iron. And butter 🤷🏼♀️
Honey Garlic Skillet Chicken
Ingredients
4 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
Salt and pepper
1/4 c flour
1 tsp Montreal steak seasoning (optional)
4 T butter
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
2 T Apple cider vinegar
1 T soy sauce
1/2 c honey
Directions
1. Wash and pat dry the chicken breasts. Set aside.
2. In a shallow bowl add the flour .
3. Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt and pepper
4. In a skillet , melt 3 T butter on medium high heat . When the butter is melted add the chicken breasts. If you choose to , sprinkle the Montreal steak seasoning over the breasts when they are in the skillet.
5. Cook the chicken for about 4-5 minutes , then turn over and cook the second side, about 3 minutes or so, until cooked through.
6. Remove the chicken from the skillet and keep warm.
7. Add garlic and remaining 1T butter and cook for about 30 seconds. Add the vinegar, soy sauce and honey. Stir well for a few minutes. The sauce should thicken a little bit.
8. Add the chicken back to the skillet and cover with the sauce. Let it warm for a few minutes before serving.
9. To serve, pour on additional sauce from the skillet over the chicken.
