Halloween Home Tour

Welcome to our Halloween Home Tour 2014 !

I love to decorate our home for holidays. The month of October brings a Halloween theme into our rooms . Lots of black and white.  This year I decided to use black bats as a recurring theme. You can see them in the burlap banner , the walls and on the burlap pillows.   I hope you enjoy the tour!

Fall Home Tour

One of the hobbies I love is decorating our home. I decorate for different seasons. I tend to keep it all neutral with a pop of color here and there. I think that decorating for fall is my favorite season to do. I love the coziness and the warm colors . I usually bring out color in the orange pumpkins , blankets and pillows. Everything else stays pretty neutral. It is still pretty warm here in West Virginia, but when it gets cooler and we have those cool fall night, we will have the gas logs on . I love the ambiance of the fire and the candlelight.  I also have an obsession with the house smelling like the season. I usually have a candle burning when we are home. My favorite for fall is Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin by Bath & Body Works. This is part 1 of our fall home.
Mini pumpkins in a silver stag head bowl.

Velvet pumpkins  and a hand carved squirrel we found at an estate sale.

An old window frame, book page wreath and pumpkin ornament.

Spring Mantle 2014

Ahhh! I knew I would not be able to stay away from blogging for long! Although I do not think I want to blog about food all the time. I want to branch out and utilize the blog for more than just food. So, here I am sharing pics of my spring mantle. I am so looking forward to spring. We have had a very productive winter in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, and I have seen enough snow for awhile. Since today is the first day of pring, and since the sun is out and has been shining bright all day (thank you Lord!) I decided to get out all the Easter/Spring decor. I kept it neutral as well as I could. I will add pops of color with the eggs the kids will decorate ( this year, with all natural ingredients from our woods) and with fresh flowers through the house. And maybe a cute pillow here and there. I thought about moving the picture over the fireplace, but that sucker is heavy, and I really don't have anything that big to take it's place. So I worked around it. I will post other rooms as I get them done. I will be participating in a few linky parties as well. So leave a comment and introduce yourself. I would love to hear from you!

Our Christmas Home Tour

Welcome to our very first Christmas Home Tour 2013! We made a major move this year and we have had so much fun decorating our new home. After many years of colorful Christmas decor, I decided to stick with neutrals and organic decor. My kids are getting older and I wanted a more grown up look. When we moved , I jumped on the burlap , birchwood and neutral decor bandwagon and I love the way the house turned out. The house ,of course, is a work in progress and I will collect more and more pieces over the years to add to the Christmas decor, but for this year, I am happy with the way the house looks. Here are some pics.

Here is our dining table. I wanted something not fussy. Burlap table runner with three Christmas trees on the table. Closer to Christmas, I will add candles and dinnerware.

This year I decided to hang the stockings on the stairs. I tried hanging them on the mantle in the living room, but they seemed too big and it made the mantle look so crowded. They look great as you walk in the front door. Burlap and linen. The yarn letters I found at Target.

The formal living room all decked out. The reindeer Night Before Christmas on the shelf is from Dear Lillie . The reindeer pillows I found on etsy .The NOEL burlap banner I made. I found the burlap banner at Hobby Lobby and painted the letters with black acrylic paint.

A closer look at the Night Before Christmas art print, reindeer pillows and Noel burlap banner.

The formal living room mantle. I used lots of wood in my decorating this year. I found the wreath at TJ MAxx, the star nativity at World Market and the snowflake pillows at Target. I made the reindeer silhouettes. So easy.

My nativity is from the Willow Tree line from Demdaco. It is beautiful.

A collection of vintage Santa Claus figurines and a glass Christmas Tree platter by Peggy Karr Glass.

The window in the kitchen over the sink.

A vignette on the coffee table in the living room.

Chalkboard print ! One of my favorites!
Stay tuned for the rest of the house next week!
